Come along and enjoy a morning dedicated to one of the earth’s most important critters – the bee! Ecologist and farmer Dana Masters presents an informative and fun workshop in the lovely bush surrounds of Resting Place of the Birds, “Mundine” Goondiwindi.
Discuss the diversity of Australian native bees, with the opportunity to view the comings and goings of a colony of native stingless bees from their hive. We will discuss how easy it is to mange your own hive of stingless bees and how to encourage a diversity of bees to make your garden home. Join in a discussion about why bees are important in natural systems and how they benefit our farms and gardens. The hive will be opened up to give you a view of the brood structure and arrangement before having the opportunity to harvest and taste pot-honey from the hives super.
Gather a group of friends or come on your own! This is sure to be a fun, relaxing morning connecting with others and learning practical bee-keeping skills.
Light refreshments provided. No bee-keeping gear required – just bring yourself.
